The life of your face, step by step
If you are going to hand an app your face, you should know where it goes before the camera opens. Here is the whole path.
| Step | What happens | Who can open it | How long it's kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Selfies | Three selfies in the app's camera, front and both three-quarter angles, with a liveness check. | Only your account. | Deleted within 1 hour of portrait approval. |
| 2. Your portrait | One portrait in the show's look, plus five more views of you. You approve it, with one free redo. | Only your account. | Until you delete it or your account. |
| 3. Your love interest | Invented from taps: ethnicity, age band, hair, build, style, vibe. No photo, no name. | Only your account. | For the life of the serial. |
| 4. Each shot | An image model draws the shot from your portrait. A vision model checks it still looks like you. | The provider for that one step. | Only as long as the step needs. |
| 5. Your episodes | Stitched, mixed and stored for you to watch. | Only your account, through links that expire after an hour. | Until you delete them or your account. |
Three selfies, deleted within the hour
Setup works like the identity check at a bank: three selfies, front, left and right, with guidance for even light and a liveness check that makes sure a real person is holding the phone. Your height and build come from two taps. We never ask for a body photo.
From those selfies the app draws one portrait of you in the show's look. A glow-up dial decides how flattering it is, and it always has to still look like you. You approve it before anything else is made. Within an hour of that approval, the three selfies are deleted: the files and the records that point to them.
What stays is your approved portrait and the five extra views made from it. They are what keep you looking like you across a whole serial, and you can delete them whenever you like.
Your account is its own room
Everything you make is stored under your account in private storage. The database enforces this per row: a request only ever returns rows that belong to the signed-in reader, and signed-out requests get nothing at all. Knowing the address of someone else's episode does not open it.
Videos play through links that expire after one hour. If you download an episode and send it to someone, that copy is out of our hands, so share with care.
The app records which screens you open so we can fix confusing steps. It never records what happens in your story or what you typed.
He's invented. That's the safety feature.
Most AI video tools let you upload a reference photo or type a name. That is how deepfakes of exes, coworkers and celebrities get made. Main Character simply has no place to do it. Your love interest is built from taps, turned into a written description with an invented first name, and locked for the serial.
Casting has rules too. The default is someone realistic for your life, drawn from your city and world with real diversity. It never defaults to a white man, and if you are Asian, the default is an Asian man unless you choose otherwise. Ethnicity is always an explicit tap, so you have the final say.
The 90210 line
The heat settings are slow burn, warm and steamy. Steamy tops out at a kiss, a hand at the back of a neck, a press against a wall or desk, fully clothed, and then the interruption. Never undressing, never skin below the collarbone, never two people in bed. Every character on screen reads as 25 or older.
The line is checked in three places: when the script is written, when each picture is drawn, and in how the shot is framed. No setting or payment unlocks anything past it.
Who else touches your face
Making video takes outside AI providers, and we would rather say so plainly. Image and video models draw each shot from your portrait. A vision model compares each new picture with your portrait to catch drift. A language model writes each episode's script, so it receives your story details: your name, city, hook, heat setting, the characters and what happened in earlier episodes. Today one provider, DeepSeek, does both the script and the likeness check. Each provider gets only what its step needs. Storage, the database and payments run on separate, named services listed in the privacy policy.
We do not use your face, portrait or episodes to train models, and we never sell them.
What this page does not promise
Deletion covers the live systems we run. Encrypted backups expire on their own schedule and cannot be searched by reader. A downloaded or shared copy of an episode is outside our control. And this is a product explanation, not legal advice. The privacy policy is the binding version.
Questions
What happens to my three selfies?
They are stored in a private folder only your account can open, used to draw your portrait, and deleted, both the files and their database rows, within one hour of you approving that portrait.
Who can see my episodes?
Only you. Episodes sit in private storage under your account, database rules return them only to you, and playback links expire after an hour. Nothing you make is shown to other readers or reused in their stories.
Can someone use Main Character to make a video of a real person?
Not of anyone but themselves. Your face comes from live selfies with a liveness check, and the love interest has no photo upload, name field or "looks like" option. He is invented from taps.
Do you train AI models on my face?
No. We do not use your selfies, portrait or episodes to train models, and we do not sell them. The AI providers that draw and check each shot process them only to make your episode.
Which outside services touch my face?
The image and video models that draw each shot from your portrait, and a vision model that checks each new picture still looks like you. A language model also writes your scripts from your story details. Each receives only what its step needs, and the privacy policy names every provider.
How do I delete everything?
Delete your account in the app. That removes your portrait, love interests, episodes and story. Billing records we are legally required to keep are kept separately.
